Tazawako is the first Shinkansen stop in Akita Prefecture. The day of our journey to Akita City from Tokyo was very gray and cloudy, so we did not get to see much of the landscape. The mist-shrouded mountains in the distance created a surreal backdrop for the quaint, colorful villages and towns along the way (not to mention Komachi's brilliant pink details).
