Ebisuya Ryokan

Our first ryokan experience occurred here, a short walk from the JR Akita Station. It was spare, but we liked it well enough to make it our "home base" on our return trip to Akita City near the end of our tour of the prefecture. And, it was close to the Seibu department store, home of the country's best concierge and Yosuke, a divine inaniwa udon restaurant.

Stefanie had expected a more rural setting, and was disappointed to exit the station and immediately see a Starbucks. We were pleased to discover its local, independent neighbor, the Nagahama Coffee Company, just a few doors down. More on this later.
