Our host at Takanoyu (our ryokan in Akinomiya) was kind enough to give us a map for a three-hour "trek" around the area. Prior to embarking on our hike, we descended into the town of Akinomiya, seen here from the top of the road, for lunch at a tiny, four-table noodle shop. We also learned that ALL post offices in Japan have international ATMs, even those in teeny-tiny mountain towns that you must call ahead to enter.
